The RUFORUM Network is pleased to announce  Professor Theresia Nkuo-Akenji as the new RUFORUM Board Chair effective immediately. On the 8th December 2021 during the RUFORUM 20th Annual General Meeting in Cotonou, Benin, Profesor Nkuo Akenji  was elected as the new board chair replacing Professor George Kanyama-Phiri, the former Vice Chancellor of Lilongwe University of Agriculture and Natural Resources (LUANAR) who has served the Network for the last 3 years. The Secretariat appreciates the leadership of Professor Kanyama-Phiri which championed and catalyzed policy change in Higher Education in Africa.  

Professor Theresia Nkuo-Akenji is the Vice Chancellor of the University of Bamenda in Cameroon, and the Board Chair of the Regional Universities Forum for Capacity Building in Agriculture (RUFORUM). She was formerly the Deputy Vice Chancellor in charge of Internal Control and Evaluation, Head of the Department of Life Sciences and Coordinator of the Microbiology Degree Programme in the University of Buea, Cameroon. She holds a BSc and an MSc in Medical Technology, both from St. Mary-of-the-Woods College, Indiana in the United States, a PhD in Parasitology and Immunology from Louisiana State University

I am delighted to become the new Board Chair of the RUFORUM Network. I have worked closely with RUFORUM for many years and look forward to continuing to partner with the Outgoing Board chair Professor George Kanyama-Phiri, former Vice Chancellor of Lilongwe University of Agriculture and Natural Resources, the Board of Trustees, International Advisory Panel (AIP), the Technical Committee, the Principals and Deans Committee, the Secretariat and all stakeholders to enhance capacity Building for the Network.” Professor Theresia said.

Professor Avlessi Felicien

During the election, Professor Avlessi Felicien, the Rector of University of Abomey Calavi (UAC) was appointed as the Deputy Board Chair. Professor Avlessi Felicien is a full professor of organic chemistry and former Director of the École Polytechnique d’Abomey-Calavi. He is the former Director of the Polytechnic School of Abomey-Calavi (University of Abomey-Calavi) and former Vice-Rector in charge of University Research of the University of Abomey-Calavi, the new head of UAC.
