Kampala 3 September 2021 The Times Higher Education World University Rankings, published once a year, assesses institutions worldwide across 13 performance indicators in five areas: teaching, research, knowledge transfer and international outlook. This year more than 1,600 universities were ranked in the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings, across 99 countries and regions with a total of 83 Universities from Africa, and Fourteen (14) being members of the RUFORUM Network.


The Regional Universities Forum for Capacity Building in Agriculture (RUFORUM), commends universities in Africa and through its various initiatives such as trainings, research grants, Innovation and academic mobility, will continue to support its member universities to deliver quality education and enable them rank higher globally.


This year’s ranking analysed more than 108 million citations across over 14.4 million research publications and included survey responses from almost 22,000 scholars globally and six new countries feature in the table compared with last year: Azerbaijan, Ecuador, Ethiopia, Fiji, Palestine and Tanzania.
