Building Entrepreneurial capacity among Graduates and Local Youth Groups in Agri-business Incubators:  Reflections from the first intake of the Agricultural and Rural Innovation Incubation hub (ARIHUB) at Haramaya University

The ‘Strengthening Entrepreneurial Capacity through Agricultural and Rural Innovation Incubation Hub at Haramaya University’ (ARIHUB) was a two-year project supported under the Regional Universities Forum for Capacity Building in Agriculture RUFORUM and Mastercard Foundations as part of the RUFORUM Agricultural Enterprises Challenge Program (RECAP) (RECAP-Grant No. RU/2019/RECAP/09). The project at Haramaya University was designed to enhance agricultural students’ and local youth groups’ entrepreneurial competencies and innovativeness by strengthening and supporting the development of innovative agricultural enterprises. The ARIHUB aims to support selected students and local youth groups to design, develop, and implement their innovative agri-business ideas through successive training, interactive coaching, mentoring, monitoring activities, and the provision of start-ups. The implementation period of the project was from 01 Aug 2019 to 31st Aug 2021. However, due to the disruptions as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, there was a no-cost extension to 31st Aug 2022.
