Dear Prof. Zinnah,

Ref: Letter of Study Completion-PhD Environmental Health, University of Eldoret

Kindly accept my warmest greetings and a Happy New Year to you and the entire University of Liberia family.

That said, it is with great joy and contentment to inform you that I have successfully graduated from the University of Eldoret with a Doctorate of Philosophy Degree (PhD) in Environmental Health. As you may be aware, I was awarded this scholarship on September 13, 2019, to study at the aforementioned university. My academic journey was divided into two phases: Year 1 (Coursework) and Years 2 & 3 (Research). In Year 1, I took and successfully passed over 10 courses. In years 2 & 3, I completed my research in time, extracting four research articles from my work, two of which are published in referred peer-review journals while the other two are pending review and subsequent publication upon payment of publication fees. All the articles bear the name of the University of Liberia as one of my affiliate institutions except one. During the same period, I attended several international scientific conferences/seminars in which I presented papers on various aspects of my research as articles/posters. In addition, as part of the GTA tripartite arrangement, I was and taught several courses and co-supervised a couple of undergraduate and postgraduate students in my department.

Meanwhile, this achievement was made possible through the commitment of all parties to the tripartite agreement among the University of Liberia, the University of Eldoret, and the Regional Universities Forum for Capacity Building in Africa (RUFORUM), under its Graduate Teaching and Research Assistants (GTAs) academic mobility program. I wish to extend my sincerest gratitude and innumerable appreciation to the President of University of Liberia, Dr. Julius S. Nelson, and his team for this invaluable opportunity and support amid national and global economic and health challenges. Furthermore, I extend special thanks to all parties, the University of Liberia, the University of Eldoret, and RUFORUM for underwriting the cost of my study and research inclusively. I extend gracious thanks to the RUFORUM Coordinator at University of Eldort, Prof. Julius Ochuodho, and RUFORUM Secretariat represented by Prof. Adipala Ekwamu, Executive Secretary. Additionally, I extend humble gratitude and thanks to my supervisors, Prof. Gelas M. Simiyu and Dr. Lexa Matasyoh whose mentorship and insightful comments ensured that my study was completed as required within the stipulated time.

Thereafter and as enshrined in the tripartite agreement, I do hereby inform and present to you my availability to be assigned to serve at the University of Liberia in the areas of teaching, research, and other administrative/academic positions and/or activities as per my qualifications and experiences. Notwithstanding, I would like to kindly remind you that, unlike some faculty staff on study leave, I, Salia S. Sheriff, and a few other comrades (Ousman and Mandela) are yet to be employed even though our employment was initiated before departing for study. Meanwhile, I am kindly requesting your honorable office to look into this matter and do the needful as we prepare to come and serve as required upon us. Also, I would like to inform you that with your full consent, I wish to communicate with the University of Liberia Protocol Office for the issuance of my Return Ticket as soon as possible.

Thank you once again for the continuous support and capacity building of the academic staff at University of Liberia; I look forward to seeing you all very soon.
