[Press Release] Official Launch of the PhD Programme in “Natural Resources and Environmental Management” at University of Juba


The University of Juba in South Sudan in partnership with the Regional Universities Forum for Capacity Building in Agriculture (RUFORUM), have officially launched a PhD programme in Natural Resources and Environmental Management. The function was held at University of Juba’s Samani Hall on 22nd July 2022. It was attended by the Representative of the Ministry of Higher Education and Science and Technology of the Republic of South Sudan, Professor Adipala Ekwamu, the Executive Secretary of RUFORUM, the Vice Chancellor of University of Juba- Professor John Akec; Dr John Garang Memorial University Vice Chancellor Professor Abraham Matoc Dhai and the Vice Chancellor of the Upper Nile University Professor Marial Awou Yol.

Three keynote presentations were made during the launch ceremony, including an Overview of RUFORUM by Professor Adipala Ekwamu; the Status of Higher Education and STI in South Sudan by Professor John Apuruot Akec, and the Postgraduate training programmes at University of Juba by Professor Emero Bernando Ochi, the Principal of Graduate College at University of Juba.

  1. Really happy to hear that the immediate neighbor opened PhD program in NR and En management . I am working in Bahir Dar University graduated in Environmental Sciences  and happy to go there to teach courses if possible. Kind regards,
