Nairobi 19 October, 2018. The Regional Universities Forum for Capacity Building in Agriculture (RUFORUM), a network of 105 universities from 37 African countries, is pleased to release the official programme for the Sixth African Higher Education Week and the RUFORUM Biennial Conference scheduled for 22-26 October 2018 at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre in Nairobi, Kenya. The theme of the Conference is “Aligning African Universities to accelerate attainment of Africa’s Agenda 2063”
The Conference will bring together over 900 delegates from academia, private sector, Government, Development partners, students and farmers. The Conference is hosted by the Government of Kenya through the Ministry of Education and 12 RUFORUM member universities in Kenya. The universities are: University of Nairobi, Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology, Kenyatta University, Pwani University, Karatina University, South Eastern Kenya University, Egerton University, University of Eldoret, Moi University, Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology, and Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University of Science and Technology.
The objectives of the Biennial Conference are to; i) collaboratively work with stakeholders including government, the private sector, and others to review African agricultural and higher education performance and how to improve its effectiveness; leaders; ii) provide a platform for sharing the best practices and reforms within the agricultural and higher education sectors; iii) build professional communities of practice that diverse stakeholders in agricultural and higher education; and iv) To disseminate research, business and entrepreneurship innovations emanating from university research and outreach to inform policy and other processes.
This Sixth Biennial Conference is structured with a set of pre-conference events focusing on strengthening thought leadership and innovation capacity of university leaders among others, and the main conference. The main conference includes plenary sessions, side events and parallel technical sessions. As part of this, the Conference include two Ministeria meetings hosted by Dr. Amina Mohamed the Cabinet Secretary for Education, Kenya.
