Application Deadline: The Fall 2015 application deadline is Monday, November 9, 2015, 11:59 PM Eastern Time.
The U.S. Borlaug Fellows in Global Food Security graduate research grant program supports exceptional graduate students who are interested in developing a component of their graduate research in a developing country setting and in collaboration with a mentor from an International Agricultural Research Center (IARC), or a qualifying* National Agricultural Research System (NARS) unit. We anticipate the fellowship program will lay a foundation for launching long-term international research collaborations for the students and their affiliated faculty advisors and IARC/NARS mentors. We envision that the group of graduate students supported by the program will eventually assume leadership positions in a wide variety of organizations, and across an array of disciplines related to food security.
Awards are made on a competitive basis to students who demonstrate a strong scientific foundation and leadership potential, propose a well-coordinated research plan that clearly articulates concepts and objectives that are innovative and feasible, and demonstrate a commitment to international development. Emphasis will be placed on projects that are interdisciplinary, but students approaching an issue through a single discipline will also be considered. We welcome research projects in any developing country that has a significant food insecurity problem. Applications to Feed the Future countries will be reviewed favorably.
